SUPPORT Cornflower
Friends, Family, and Music Community…
As many of you know, I’ve been in a caregiving chapter with my mom for the past 4.5 years as she’s navigated two strokes, dementia, and long-term hospice care. Last week, on Mother’s Day, and then again today, what appear to be additional strokes have dramatically shifted everything. She has lost use of her left arm, left leg, and vision in her left eye. She can no longer walk, and cognitively she’s shifting in and out of clarity.
Right now, my days and nights are centered around her care... helping reposition her in bed, changing and cleaning her, checking on her throughout the night, and doing everything I can to keep her comfortable, safe, and surrounded by love.
The truth is, this means I’m currently unable to do the work that normally keeps me afloat. As a self-employed musician, touring and performing have been my primary income, and right now that isn’t possible. Working on or releasing new music has had to take a back seat, and even taking on other work is incredibly difficult because my mom’s needs can shift at any moment and I need to be available.
I know community is how we carry one another through impossible seasons. If my music has moved you, if we’ve shared friendship, conversation, a show, festival, or meaningful moment, and you feel called to support my family and me during this chapter, financial support would make an enormous difference in helping me stay present for my mom without the weight of immediate financial stress. No amount is too small. Truly.
